Hello bintang,

It is true that Olleh provides country unlock of their iPhones. You would have to call Olleh Customer Service, and provide them with your device's IMEI number. You won't need any SIM card from Olleh--once unlocked, you can use any SIM card to activate your iPhone.

You can easily find your IMEI number by going through Settings > General > About > IMEI, or if your iPhone is not activated, pressing info button at the lower right of the Welcome screen(or connect to iTunes screen) will bring a pop-up containing IMEI number.

You can reach Olleh CS by dialing +82 02-2190-1180 from abroad. They would likely to help you with this.

Good luck. :)

bintang,

I talked with Olleh Customer Service concerning your problem.

They provided me with another number that you can call, which is +82-2-2190-0901.

Note that only the owner of the iPhone can go through this process, according to what they said.

Let me know if you could solve this problem. I would be happy to help you get through this.

bintang,

None of KT (Olleh) iPhones are factory unlocked out of the box. Did you buy your iPhone from a third person? I suppose the seller may possibly given you incorrect info. Unfortunately, it seems the only "official" way to have your iPhone unlocked is asking KT CS to register your IMEI on Apple's side. If they refuses to help you, I am sorry but you are out of luck.

Austin,

i've been trying to contact the CS since yesterday but i havent been able to reach the CS. i always hear the operator talking and then the music starts and i had no idea what i had to do. i've spent $20 waiting for the music to stop and get me to the CS 😟

if its not too much, can i ask your help for the last time? would you mind asking them if there's anything they can do? maybe as you said put my IMEI or SN in apple's server? anything...

thanks so much 🙂

i just got an answer for olleh twitter account! this is what they said:

"If the phone is unlocked, then you shouldn't need to have an additional unlock processed through the CS center. If it needs to be unlocked, then you will need to insert the USIM of an active kt subscriber, and have the owner of the account call and have it unlocked"

bintang,

Sorry, I could not help you for a while. (I have been suddenly hospitalized..)

Try PMing that twitter account, and have them reach you through a phone call. Their attitude of not giving further help and not even answering your phone call seems quite unacceptable to me.

hey, how you doin austin? what get you to the hospital? its okay, get well soon first 🙂

hm, what did they asked when you said you wanted to unlock the phone?

in my case they asked for either alien registration number and/or an active KT USIM. i asked someone in Korean to call them today and provide them with his KT phone number but, again, they asked where the phone was bought, etc etc. my friend hasnt given me the update of that process, but i hope it works.

i mean, yes i bought a second-handed-iphone from Korea and brought it to Indonesia. i didnt see whats wrong in that process and why the refused to help me. its not like i will change provider to their rival...

its frustating 😠

A part of my left wrist was found broken. I am okay, I can type on my iPhone with my right hand.

To get back to the topic,

There are no active KT USIM, nor alien registration number involved during actual unlock process. I think they are trying to make sure that "you" are letting "your" phone to be unlocked, not someone else's. Try convincing them that your iPhone is second-handed, originally not purchased under your name. I hope a generous agent would understand the problem, and help you get your iPhone unlocked.

Could you reach the seller? Could you give me more detailed information on, how you got your iPhone, how you were able to find out that your phone is carrier-locked to KT, etc?

i hope u're okay 🙂 i'm too a newly graduated MD in my country 😀

i'm still waiting for my friend to get me an update, maybe he's busy and cant reach the internet at the moment. if that fails, yes, maybe i'll try to call the CS again. just to make sure, after the machine says "press zero if you want to continue.." there will be a song with a female talks in korean, is that rite? and i just have to wait until they answer the phone? because i waited like 5 minutes and no one answer but the song and the machine.

actually, there's someone that gave me this iphone that he pruchased in korea from a small second handed electronic shop. this someone knew nothing about iphone or apple. so he just bought the phone, and gave me the moment he arrived here. i tried to use local sim card but it failed to detect a network. the model number is MC605KH which is registered for KT or SK. i searched the internet and found that the only locked phone were distributed by KT. i also found out that KT now offer free country unlock, so i tried to contact them.

so, here i am 🙂

bintang,

Make sure you call here: +82-2-2190-0901.

Here is the direct number from Indonesia to Korea (you said you're at Indonesia, right?), just in case you want:

001-801-82 -> announcement -> press 4 -> 02 2190 0901

Also, I recommend you to restore your iPhone, as what haha99s said, to clarify that the issue is not related to software bug, etc. Connect your iPhone to computer, on iTunes, click Restore. (CAUTION: this would clear everything on your phone, and install latest firmware.)
